The topic of this blog is to convince parents, cosmetic surgeons, and teenagers that cosmetic surgery should not be an option for teenagers. I chose to explore this topic because it personally baffled me that upon parental consent a young teenager can undergo dangerous, life threatening surgeries to alter their changing appearance. Upon further research, I discovered that there is strong support for my position as well as strong opposition to my opinion. I decided to write a letter to Dr. Ary Krau because he is a cosmetic surgeon that operates on teenagers. While writing this letter, I kept in mind Dr. Krau's beliefs and in fact agreed with some of them. At the end of my letter I asked Dr. Krau to stop offering cosmetic surgery to teenagers for the benefit of his business as well as the well being of teens. As a reader of this blog, if you choose to get involved, I suggest urging the teenagers that you know not to undergo cosmetic surgery and to consider other, less dangerous ways to improve their body image.
